Wasia Project is a London pop duo formed by siblings Olivia Hardy and William Gao. Olivia, who plays violin, and William, a classically trained pianist, blend alt-pop and jazz with classical influences. The name Wasia Project is a fusion of “White” and “Asia,” symbolizing the band’s roots and culture as half-Chinese and half-English. They released their debut single, “why don’t u love me,” in 2019, followed by the EP How Can I Pretend? three years later. With singles like “Petals on the Moon” and “My Lover Is Sleeping,” Wasia Project has gained popularity for their unique sound.
