Melvins 40th Anniversary Tour!
Arguably one of the most influential artists of the past 40 years, The Melvins have still never relented from being the heaviest band of all time. From the day I dropped the needle on their 1987 debut album “Gluey Porch Treatments”, I’ve been inspired by their signature, staggered feel, much like countless other bands who look up to them as the kings of the Northwest music scene.
Oh, and thank you for giving me Nirvana’s phone number.
– Dave Grohl
Fearless and cheerless outsider art from some beautiful, dutiful, cynical hearts… That just happen to be the sweetest folk in the world… here’s to the next 40 years of Melvins!
—Jeff P!nkus, Butthole Surfers, Melvins bass
The Melvins continue to be an inspiration to their fans and to fellow musicians like myself. Congratulations guys on 40 years of supreme rocking!!
— Matt Cameron, Soundgarden
The Melvins changed music forever. They’re the true originators of grunge. They’re unstoppable.
— Adam Jones, Tool
Knowing that (the) Melvins have been twisting rock music into new frontiers for 40 years makes one realize just how forward-thinking and fearless they’ve been since the get-go. There’s still nothing like Gluey Porch Treatments or Ozma, hard as some may try, not to mention the rest of their 30+ albums. They are true veterans in the lineage of heavy music and they know what they’re talking about.
– Trevor Dunn, Mr. Bungle, Melvins, Trevor Dunn Trio Convulsant
I woke up this morning with an unusual beautiful feeling. I was initially unnerved that I couldn’t pinpoint why I felt so good. Then it dawned on me that the Melvins have provided a substantial part of my soundtrack for 40 years.
— Mark Arm
Melvins have always been a band I’ve respected and learned from. Combining tender and brutal riffs Un compromised dynamic songwriting, creating art no other way but their own, on their terms. true sonic innovators of my generation.
— Bill Kelliher, Mastodon
Relentless, uncompromising heavy, dynamic and not scared to experiment. One step ahead of everyone and thinking outside of the box since day one.
— _Roy Miago, Ministry
With well over thirty albums and an uncountable library of EPs and singles the Melvins have never stopped working.
Signed to Atlantic Records during the 90s Grunge explosion, the Melvins recorded three albums on the same label as Led Zeppelin, The Rolling Stones and
Aretha Franklin. Over the years they’ve had long running relationships with the exceptional Indie Labels, Boner Records, Amphetamine Reptile Records, and Ipecac Recordings.
As musicians the Melvins are extremely talented, uncompromising, and grandly influential, as human beings I consider myself fortunate to have been able to work with them and count them as my friends for so many years. Punk, metal, grunge, categorize them however you like. Forty years and counting, they are the very definition of rock and roll done correctly.
—Greg Werkman, owner Ipecac Recordings
Melvins? Nicest complete bastards you’ll ever know, and I’ve known ‘em for 37 or 38 of their 40 of their magnificent bastard years.
—Tom Hazelmyer, owner Amphetamine Reptile Records
I’ve been working with the Melvins more than twenty years, I still can’t predict what they will want next. They are masterful at creating new material and extremely hardworking.
—Toshi Kasai, Recording Engineer
In conclusion, the Melvins can change your life, if you let them
